Guatemala is one of these countries where it is so good to travel. The possible lack of comfort of some busses (ahhh the chicken busses) and beaches for some, is immediately forgotten with the beauty and the naturalness of this really authentic country… a true quiet river.

Less present than in Mexico, the Maya influence however is preserved with wonder in Tikal, one simply magic archelogical site. Guatemala City being worth only by its airport, Antigua carries all the interest of a charming, young and cordial city.

The lake Atitlan is essential as it is a pure wonder of nature while Potpun is one of these places where it is good to meet other tourists and Rio Dulce a pleasant stop along the river. Lastly, Chichicastenango and Nebaj will give you the chance to get in contact with a local population really really welcoming.

Guatemala is finally a place where I regret not having remained longer as life seems simple and attractive there.
