Difficult to give an opinion on a country where I only had the chance
to visit the north (the south is often considered as the tourist main attraction of the country, it will be for another time).
What I will however remember is the kindness of the Chilean people, always smiling and helping.
San Pedro de Atacama is a small paradise
for backpackers. It was beautiful and warm (a change coming from Bolivia) and the atmosphere
around campfire, restaurants, bars was very charming after a few month of dust.
Its small size gives it even an attractive side.
Taking into account the surrounding settings and the landscapes, I strongly advise it a stop over there. Serena
was a bit disappointing but the bad weather was probably one of the reason. Valparaiso,
with its San Francisco-style (in smaller of course) was quite charming. To end, 24 hours in
Santiago is too little to really visit it but it was enough though to have a good feeling about it.
